This is the same room from "Sulking at Spinner's end," but it's seen from another angle. The bookcase should be behind Tobias chair, so you can get an idea of how crammed the room is. This is a dining room. But this is supposed to be many years ago, and while it's still a small ugly house, the curtain looks new and the wallpaper is not completely ruined.

Even though JKR doesn't give us a good description of Eileen or Tobias, I had to go with the impression I got. Eilleen's personality, at least what showed through a newspaper picture was of a mix of cross and sullen. She has a long face with heavy eyebrows. I can't help but imagine her dark. I think Snape got his hair color from her, as well as the long face, heavy eyebrows, and the cross and sullen thing. Tobias has a hooked nose, but that's all we know, and honestly, judging by how pale Snape is, I think he had to have at least one light haired and skinned parent. That's why I gave Tobias dark blonde to brown, greasy (and slightly wavy) hair, and grey cold eyes. He has some of the things Snape carries, but he is different.

What to say about this picture... I wanted it to look like an ordinary day for this couple we know very little about, except for the violence witnessed in Snape's memories. So, this is speculation. If Tobias was one of those violent abusive guys, they usually try to pick a fight over every little thing. It would probably start with a side look, a disgusted sneer maybe. She would be reading a book, and he would feel ignored. By the time the alcohol started to work its way, he would start to say unpleasant things, eventually going for the physical abuse.

I really enjoy your views on them, since I was never able to fully picture Snape's father in my mind. I'm inspired. x3 To give it a go and draw them...but I'm too terrified of backgrounds - which you pulled off oh-so-well. Completely sets the mood, and that is indeed Spinner's End.

The crows (or birds), hung on the wall? Amazing touch.

Wow... that turned out even greater than I imagined. I love the overall scene, with the room and the furniture (there is the same kind of parquet in my flat, which is from the 60s *g*) - I can really see it happen like this. And we share the same opinion about Tobias' and Eileens outer appearance. Also, I love the drunken look you gave Tobias, with the heavy lidded eyes and the aggressive pose. Ah.. there's another fav in order. :)

That's excellent and I like to hear your POV on the couple. Great picture, I like Eileen particularly.

Good hypothesis, and nice picture. Kudos!

What hurts the most, was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
Never knowing, what could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

Excellent work. I love the lil decorations and the wallpaper. And your visions of Tobias and Eileen and awesome! I pictured them just about the same way! Wonderful as always! :glomp:

Thank you, the background took a long time to finish, my hand still hurts LOL. Glad you like the couple. :)

Thank you, glad you like the picture, I'm happy I got the idea through, it's hard to add feelings to characters we barely know. I thought parquet floor would be a nice touch. I lived in a house with those, only mine was from the 30's, but I remember how it being a small cheap house, the parquet started to get loose and irregular, with gaps between them. I thought it would be the same way in this house, although it's hard to say what kind of floors they had in those particular houses, but I know European houses used to have those, and my childhood home was built in that style.

Thank you for the fav. :)

Thank you, ya we have to practically imagine their looks ourselves. JKR was very cryptic with their description, but I wanted them to have all the Snapish characteristics without bluntly looking exactly like him. I'd love to see what your version of them. :) The birds used to be one of those tacky things people added to their home, since the 40's I guess. I thought it was appropriate in this case.
